Rollercoaster restaurant adds a new twist to Steelite range
12 July 2016
Steelite International, world-leading manufacturer and supplier of award-winning, inspirational table top ranges, has worked with Alton Towers to provide the plates for the UK’s first rollercoaster restaurant.
Officially launched on Friday 13 May, the rollercoaster restaurant uses plates and bowls from Steelite’s Distinction Monaco range. Each plate is a standard size, what makes them unique to the restaurant is the illustration of a ‘rollercoaster’ track and logo glazed onto each piece.
Dan Wilbraham, head of food and beverage at Merlin Entertainments, said: “We wanted to create a premium feel for the restaurant and needed to be certain the plates would be durable enough for such a busy, fast-paced environment, so Steelite was the natural choice. And our customers love them.”
Heather Lovatt, head of marketing at Steelite International, said: “This was definitely a first for us. We’ve been asked to develop unique designs for a variety of restaurants, but never for an environment where the food is whizzing around on 400 meters of rollercoaster tracks and loop-the-loops.”
The team at Steelite worked with the in-house design team at Merlin for several months confidentially to create their chosen design for this unique restaurant.
