Steelite International Plans Charity Ware Giveaway

15 July 2016

Voluntary groups and charities across Staffordshire are being offered free Steelite International tableware. Stoke-on-Trent manufacturer Steelite International is, for the second time, giving away a huge collection of ware to deserving causes around the county. To celebrate the company’s 33rd birthday, the business will be donating 33,000 pieces including over 10,000 plates, 6,000 cups and saucers and 3,000 bowls.

Steelite International has joined forces with VAST again – the organisation which supports hundreds of voluntary groups, charities, and social enterprises in Staffordshire – to help coordinate the large project. Louise Griffin, Group HR Director commented: “Steelite International is committed to giving something back to the local community and, following the success of the campaign back in 2013, we were certain that this event offers the perfect platform from which the business is able to help even more local causes.”

Since the introduction of its Giving Something Back community fund in 2012, Steelite International has helped over 250 different causes in line with its fields of giving of youth aspiration, community regeneration, health and well being and the elderly and raised over £90,000.

VAST provides development advice, volunteering support, funding information, training and financial and marketing services to voluntary groups and charities.

Sarah Carrington the Head of Partnerships at VAST commented: “We’re delighted to support Steelite again this year by giving something back to the local community, many of these groups have experienced a difficult 12 months with funding cuts, so a generous donation such as this is a welcome contribution. We partner with a number of private organisations such as Steelite to fulfil their Corporate Social Responsibility and enable them to engage with and benefit their local community.”

The charity giveaway will take place at The Dudson Centre, Hope Street, Hanley, between 10.30 and 14:30 on Friday July 15th.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council have supported the event by donating parking on Hope Street Car Park and in on-street pay and display bays on Hope Street.

Charities who would like to take advantage of the giveaway must register for the event to avoid disappointment at http://www.vast.org.uk/steelite-giveaway-registration/ and recipients will need to be able to take the ware

away with them that day. For more information, please contact VAST on 01782 683 030.
