Charity Walk Across Staffordshire
1 April 2010
Four colleagues from Steelite International will take on the mammoth task of walking 94 miles across Staffordshire in aid of local charity Douglas Macmillan. The ladies who have been in training for a while now, will start the walk on Monday 5th April from Kinver Edge near Wolverhampton and finish on Friday 9th April at Mow Cop Castle.
Janet Knapper, event leader comments "Not only are we doing a fantastically long walk, some bright spark decided we should camp along the way. All well and good if you are a seasoned camper - but no, three out of the four of us have never been camping before so that should be fun!"
The ladies hope to raise as much money as possible for Steelite's designated charity partner for 2010, Douglas Macmillan, but have set a minimum of £1000. Most people have been affected by cancer in some way, whether it is personally, friends or family and the chosen charity is not only local, but they do a fantastic job of caring for those with life threatening illnesses and supporting their families.
The friends and colleagues hope as many people as possible will be able to join them at the finishing line at Mow Cop Castle, approximately 3pm on Friday 9th April. If you would like to join them for the last leg, be ready to depart from Rudyard Lake visitor centre at 8.30am.
"Please support with as much as you possibly can, we will be forever grateful. We know things are tough for a lot of people these days, but we would be so pleased if we could surpass our target figure as there are only four of us attempting this."
