What Cocktail glass to choose?

10 May 2023

When it comes to choosing the right glass for a cocktail it really depends on how you want to present it. For example, if it’s a classic Daiquiri, you’d serve it in a coupe glass, if it’s an Aperol spritz, a white wine glass is the go-to.

To help with your decision making, we have made a list of cocktails below you’d find on a classic menu and paired them with a choice of glassware.

Old Fashioned - The old fashioned glass, otherwise known as the rocks glass and lowball glass (or simply lowball), is a short tumbler used for serving spirits, such as whisky, neat or with ice cubes ("on the rocks").

Daiquiri – A coupe glass, the curvaceous shape of the bowl makes the liquid less likely to spill over and the stem gives you distance so you don't warm up your cocktail with your hand.

Margarita – The clue is in the name, a margarita glass. There are many glass experts that agree that the shape of the glass comes from the much older and smaller French champagne glass, or coupe.

Espresso Martini – A martini glass, martini glasses generally differ from a traditional cocktail glass by having a larger bowl and being fully conical at the bottom. The long stem helps to control the temperature of your alcohol, because drinks served in this glass will not have ice in them.

Aperol Spritz - White wine glasses are terrific for serving an Aperol Spritz, but if your wine glasses are super fancy or fragile, you might also consider using something sturdier, like a highball.

Bloody Mary - The Bloody Mary is traditionally served over ice in a tall glass, such as a highball, flared pint or hurricane glass.

Mojito - Highball glasses are tall and narrow and used to serve 'tall' cocktails such as a Gin and Tonic, Mojito and a Long Island Iced Tea.

Moscow Mule – It's said that a Moscow Mule is traditionally served in a cold copper mug, but we have a stunning alternative from our newest collection, Tattoo.

Gin Fizz - A highball glass is another classic vessel for a gin and tonic. Its tall, narrow shape preserves the crisp fizz of the tonic, and you can pile it high with ice to keep the drink cool on a long summer afternoon.

Our most popular collections for cocktails and mixology are:

Bormioli Rocco America 20's - These 1920s-inspired glasses bring the glamour of trendy American jazz bars through to today. Where conversation was about art and the ambiance was of unprecedented newness and enthusiasm.

RCR Tattoo - Tattoo is a youthful collection with a contemporary style that evokes body art aesthetics. Presenting perfectly unique cocktails, Tattoo includes feature items like an hourglass tumbler that is ideal as a shot glass or jigger, and a Mule mug that goes well with any beverage.

RCR Alkemist - The success of the Alkemist range lies in combining the complexity of the design with the typical lightweight of a tasting glass, creating an alchemy that makes this line unique and inimitable. Developed specifically for hotels and restaurants, the Alkemist collection includes goblets and glasses that resemble the cuts of a diamond and reflect brilliantly when hit by the light.
