Asma Khan joins Steelite International at the 2022 London Restaurant Show

Once again, thousands of professionals across the hospitality sector are united in showcasing the best products, services, and innovations in the market. From hoteliers and restaurateurs to chefs and casual dining operators, the Big Hospitality Exposition packs an agenda of hospitality insights and takes place from 26-28 September 2022.

Steelite International expects an incredible show, presenting the latest innovations in tabletop and buffet solutions. Furthermore, following a long-standing relationship, Steelite is proud to host Asma Khan of the award-winning Darjeeling Express, to offer an exclusive meet and greet where she will be exclusively signing limited copies of her latest cookery-book, Ammu.

Established from humble beginnings, the infamous Darjeeling Express was born in Asma’s home, originally accommodating for just 12 lucky guests, serving lovingly cooked favourites including her famous ‘Mughlai dinners’. Since then, Asma has come a long way, in both establishing a world-class restaurant, and more importantly, has continued to relentlessly battle against social stigmas within hospitality. With approval from some of the world’s leading chefs, Asma now works alongside the friends and family that were invited to the first ‘Darjeeling’ supper club, empowering women to be recognised for their talents as female Indian chefs.

Since opening of Darjeeling Express in Covent Garden, Asma Khan has cooked for some of the biggest names including Fay Maschler, Kiera Knightly, Paul Rudd, Danny DeVito and Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan. Utilising Steelite tableware collections such as Steelite Brown Dapple, Steelite Aurora and custom products from Maham Studio’s very own Maham Anjum.

Asma kindly commented “I wanted the plates to be a frame for my food - the brown dappled edge was exactly what I wanted and Steelite kindly made a range bespoke for me. I’m so happy I spent time and resources on my tableware - every time I walk into my restaurant and see the tables setup for service my heart smiles - I am still so in love with the plates one year since we opened.”

A recently announced partnership with the Pembroke Pub will see Asma and the Darjeeling team revisit their roots by opening an exclusive pop-up that continues to elevate Indian cuisine whilst giving a loving nod to traditional techniques and flavours.⁠
